The A in A record stands for Address. An A record (Address Record) points a domain or subdomain to an IP address and are one of the primary records used in DNS servers. For example you can use an A record to point a domain name, such as "yourdomain.com", to the IP address of another hosting provider's server, "12.145.124.123". You can also do this with sub domains e.g. blog.yourdomain.com to point to a seperate IP address.
